WHO IS HOSTING THE CAMP?
What is Story Week Camp?
Embark on a captivating 5-day storytelling journey AT THE END OF SUMMER Break, where students gather to explore various mediums each day. Guided by two expert storytellers, participants will bring their ideas to life through mediums such as stop motion, SOUND EFFECTS, installation art, fairy tales, SCI FI STORIES, and illustration. This program offers sixth graders a fantastic chance to delve into the realms of expression, storytelling, and the creative arts, fostering a rich and inspiring learning experience tailored to a new medium every day.
The Montreal Centre for Learning Disabilities is proud to partner with Working On It to host a special SUMMER Camp PILOT WEEK. Our collaboration is dedicated to making emotional, social, and educational learning more accessible for individuals with learning disabilities SUCH AS ADD/ADHD AND TO OPEN UP THE POWER OF STORYTELLING IN A FUN AND INCLUSIVE WAY. This unique pilot program offers students the opportunity to be part of a small, close-knit group of YOUNG creators.
The camp will be taking place at batiment 7, an artist workshop space with super fun facilities (including an arcade!) in Point saint charles.
How much will it cost to participate?
our week-long program is $100, covering both the program fee and your yearly membership to the Montreal Centre for Learning Disabilities ($30 value). Your membership opens doors to FUTURE PARTICIPATION IN programs WITH THE MLCD like Aquakids and more. If the FEE IS A challenge, SEND us an email Here. We're here to make sure everyone can join in.
Spaces are limited for this special pilot, so once you apply, we'll reach out to let you know if your child is in! Then, we'll share the details for securing their spot with a simple payment process. Can't wait to have your child on board! 🚀

Free Time AND EXPLORATION WHILE PARTICIPANTS GET DROPPED OFF.
9-10: MINI MORNING FILM FESTIVAL
Mini FILM fESTIVAL WITH STOP MOTION EXAMPLES,
ANALYzING FILMS AND SHARING TIPS AND TRICKS.
10-11: Get Moving & BIG BRAINSTORMING
Active drama excercises & Story Brainstorming activities
11-12: The Pitch
WORKING ON IDEAS FOR WHAT STORY THE PARTICIPANTS WANT TO TELL.
SHARING & ENCOURAGEMENT.
12-1: LUNCH TIME
BASED ON GROUP NEEDS EITHER FREE TIME, OR DIGGING INTO MORE EXAMPLE MEDIA (WATCHING A MOVIE, LISTENING TO A PODCAST, ETC)
1-4: CREATIVE EXPLORATION
PARTICIPANTS WILL GET THE CHANCE TO DIG INTO CREATING THEIR EXPRESSIONS. THEY MIGHT CHOOSE TO KEEP WORKING ON THE MEDIUM OF A PRIOR DAY, OR DIG INTO SOMETHING NEW. COLLABORATION WILL BE ENCOURAGED, BUT NOT REQUIREd. GROUP LEADS WILL HELP WITH HANDS-ON PROBLEM SOLVING AND TECHNICAL MENTORSHIP.
Guided By Two Facilitators from WORKING ON IT,
A group of 8-10 students will spend each day with a new storytelling medium.
They will be shown innovative example media, participate in group brainstoRMing sessions,
and complete a new project
from start to finish every day.
CAMP WILL BE TAKING PLACE at

on the last day of camp, FROM 3PM - 4PM,
Youth will host a
showcase to share
their work with
parents, guardians,
and MCLD staff.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE PILOT NATURE OF THIS PROGAM, SPOTS ARE LIMITED. ONCE YOU REGISTER YOU CAN EXPECT tO HEAR BACK WITHIN 3-4 DAYS ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU CHILD IS CONFIRMED TO ATTEND CAMP. WE WILL THEN PROCESS PAYMENT AT THAT TIME. BECAUSE THIS PROGRAM AIMS TO MEET THE MCLD MANDATE OF Providing Support and Information for People with Learning Disabilities, WE WILL BE PRIORITIZINg SPOTS FOR CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES.
